Admission

Each year, application is called by Kathmandu University, School of Science for the following programmes under the Department of Pharmacy:

  • Undergraduate programme (Bachelor in Pharmacy, BPharm)
  • Graduate programme (Master in Pharmacy, MPharm)
  • Doctorate programme (Doctor of Philosophy, PhD)

UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAM

BPharm (4 years/8 semesters)

Eligibility:

The candidate must have completed 10+2 or equivalent with minimum of 50% marks or C+ in aggregate and 50% or C+ in Physics, Chemistry and Biology (PCB) or Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM).Those with Diploma in Pharmacy (D Pharm) degree should have secured minimum of 50% in aggregate. Candidate with GCSE A-Level should have minimum 'C' grade in each of the required subjects.

Admission Procedure:

Notification for admission to all undergraduate programs offered by the school under the pharmacy department is published in major dailies and is in the website: pharm.ku.edu.np in the month of June/July seeking applications from eligible candidates. Collection of applications is followed by an entrance examination designed to test applicants' command over Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Candidates qualifying in the entrance examination are called for an interview. The interview is aimed at testing individual's aptitude in the field in which one is seeking admission and is taken by the relevant department.

Applicants are required to submit the following documents with the application.

  • Attested copy of Mark sheets of Secondary and Higher Secondary education.
  • Official document showing the average grades in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics OR Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
  • Character certificates issued by the school last attended.
  • Attested copy of citizenship.

 

 

GRADUATE PROGRAM

MPharm (2 years/4 semesters)

Eligibility:

Candidates with BPharm degree with minimum CGPA of 2.0 out of 4 or 50% in aggregate marks are eligible to apply.

Admission Procedure:

Notification for admission to graduate programs offered by the school under the Pharmacy Department is published in major dailies and is in the website: www.pharm.ku.edu.np in the month of July seeking applications from eligible candidates. Collection of applications is followed by an interview/test. The interview/test is aimed at testing individual's aptitude academic status and diligence in the field in which one is seeking admission and is taken by the relevant Department.
 

Application Checklist:

Applicants are required to submit the following documents with the application.
  1. Attested copy of mark sheets of Secondary, Higher Secondary education and Undergraduate level.
  2. Character certificates issued by the school last attended.
  3. Attested copy of citizenship.
  4. Work experience letter (if applicable).
  5. Two recommendations (from the academic supervisor or from the present employer).

 

DOCTORATE PROGRAM

PhD (3 years)

Minimum Qualification for Admission:

The candidate with MPharm degree will be admitted into PhD programme.
